Shari Pierce’s installation Open 24 Hours is not a comment about a shop that never closes but women and girls who bodies are exploited and sold 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Pierce chose Klohäuschen for her installation because of its history as a former male public toilette house that it is now an experimental space for art.

According to the International Justice Mission, each year, nearly 2 million children worldwide are exploited in the global commercial sex trade; 27 million men, women and children are held as slaves; 1 in 5 women is a victim of rape or attempted rape in her lifetime. Women and girls that are sex trafficked often live in groups together in their trafficker's apartment or house, living in suburbia along-side unaware neighbors. Today it is more common practice to use the Internet as an instrument to facilitate business therefore sex traffickers post the girls' pictures, advertising them on websites.
